Boston, 1895. unbound. Gorgeous mounted albumin photograph, 6.5 x 4.25 inches, taken at the studio of Elmer Chickering, 21 West Street, Boston, Massachusetts, a shoulder-up profile image of Savage dressed in a heavy coat, boldly signed on the image in black ink "M.J. Savage," below the image on the mount in purple ink "M.J. Savage," and again on the back "M.J. Savage - May 24th '95." An exceptional item that is in fine condition. Note: Elmer Chickering (1857 - 1915) was a photographer who specialized in celebrity portraits in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.<br/> <br/> American Unitarian Minister who was an early advocate of Darwinian Evolutionistic Optimism and Social Reform and supported the Theory of Evolution through his numerous sermons and church teachings.<br/> <br/>
