The text is illustrated with both colour and black-and-white drawings and sketches made by the author while a prisoner of the Japanese during World War II along the Burma-Siam Railway. A little rubbing to the dustwrapper corners. After the fall of Singapore in 1942 the author became a prisoner of war of the Japanese. He spent that time in Singapore and in the Thailand-Burma railway camps.
