A tight and handsome first edition of this unusual humorous young adult mystery featuring a beetle for a detective and entirely populated with bug characters. Boldly signed and inscribed by the author in black fineline on the half-title page: "To the 3rd graders / in Room 108! / Best wishes, / Paul Shipton." This debut mystery was nominated for an Edgar Award and was followed by a sequel in 1998.
