Lloyd Valdemer Baxter, known as Skippy Baxter, [1919-2012] was an American figure skater. He landed the first triple Salchow in 1939 but did not receive credit for it as it did not occur at a qualifying competition. He won awards as a youth speed skater and at the 1940 U.S. Figure Skating Championships won a bronze and a silver medal. He went on to skate professionally with the Ice Capades, working with Sonia Henie in her shows. Baxter became a close friend of cartoonist Charles Schulz and choreographed a skating segment for Snoopy in the animated film A Boy Named Charlie Brown. Baxter was inducted into the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2003.
