About This Item
1952. Hardcover. Very Good. 125 photos in corner mounts, 5-9 to a page on both sides of eight album leaves. All but a handful of the photos are about 8 x 6cm. Generally good detail in these small but appealing photos. Almost all of the first 100 photos are neatly captioned. Tied oblong album with thin paper-covered boards. (30 x 23cm.). Moderate cover scuffing and wear. The compiler recorded his arrival in Kenya aboard the S. S. Uganda. Locale of farm unclear but appears to be 30 miles from Nanyuki and possibly near Archer's Post (where they are photographed eating a meal). There is a photo of the first crop (maize) planted. One photo is headed "Looking down onto Bottom Farm from the first stage of the escarpment 20,000 acres." Two Pages are headed Safari 1954 -- one for February and the other for September -- but photos show a holiday rather than the hunting of big game. The latter seems to be a trip to the Belgian Congo with photos of Bukavu, Lake Kivu and the Ruwenzori Hotel in Mutwanga.
