Patterned end papers. From the introduction: "It was first published some years ago as a small paper-cover ed octavo pamphlet . . . Its growth is symbolical of the development of the Laundry Inductry. . . . It is not so long ago, well within the memories of most members of the Federation, that launderers were looked down upon as the least important people in the industrial world. Most of them meekly accepted the position . . ." A collection of 51 articles or information pieces all of which are printed in the rectos of the pages with full page advertisements on the facing versos. All illustrations and photographs are black and white with one exception - the half page ad for Geoffrey Holland & Sons, a publicity company. The paper used throughout is a high quality coated stock. The front and back free end papers are both lightly browned, four blue check marks are noted on the 'General Contents' page, library stamp (The British Employers' Confederation of London) on the title page, small paper label on the front board at the spine / head edge corner and a catalogue stamp on the front free end paper. The spine is faded with some crinkling of the back strip cloth. Minor shelf wear to the board corners and spine tips with two small spots of soil on both front and back boards on the tail margins. All-in-all, a still rather handsome volume with a near fine interior and a solid / sound binding.; Ex-Library .
