Encased in a near fine brown slipcase with matching labels to book. Text & hinges tight & intact. Title page has black & red lettering. Illustrated with a few head & tail-pieces. Browning mostly to edges of first 5 leaves. 16 double-page engraved plates, printed on one side of leaves & bound in rear. According to Sabin (Dictionary of Books Relating to America, New York: 1869) ," First published in German in 1757, this brief history of the origins and doctrines of Church of the Unity of the Brethren is of particular interest for its plates depicting their rites and their missionary work to indigenous peoples." “The plates contain elaborate representations of the Moravian ceremonies of ordination, of the different modes of baptizing infants, negroes, Greenlanders, and American Indians, also of the exorcism, prosternation [prostration], Eucharist, an Agape dinner, holy kiss, feet-washing, marriage, etc. ” Religion, Moravians. ; Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 87 pages .
