1945. Chapman & Hall and The Book Society. London. 1945. DW. First edition, thus. Published almost at the same time as the true first. Book Society bookplate tipped in on the front pastedown with the original owner's name neatly handwritten, top edge red. Pages 69/70 have a close 1cm tear to margin.Cloth boards very clean and bright. Wrapper is tanned to spine with small creases and nicks along edges. Rear panel is very slightly soiled. Wrapper is NOT price-clipped. A very clean copy generally.
