Early owner inscribed on front flyleaf, some light foxing as well as browning to pages; spine and outer edges of boards worn, but in fact a very good copy of mid-nineteenth century sheet music, featuring operas, fortes, waltzes, and other selections across the United Kingdom. This collection includes three American songs by Virginian banjo player Joel Sweeney: "Lucy Long," "Jenny Get Your Hocake Done," and "Where Did You Come From, Knock a Nigger Down." Joel Sweeney was an early blackface and minstrel performer, who is credited with popularizing the banjo in the United States.
