About This Item

New York: Literary Guild of America, 1929. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Not Signed. Reprint. This Literary Guild of America edition was published in the same year as the 1st Edition. This copy is over 80 years old, has been well taken care of and is in very good condition. Its construction is unlike most of the poorly made book club editions. The cloth covered boards and matching top stain add up to a handsome edition possibly as desirable and rare as the first edition. The text block is solid, clean and square. Endpapers are clear of markings with NO previous owner's signature and have drawings of the submarines on them. Spine tight, boards rigid and tips pointed. There is no book club deboss on the rear cover. The cover has chipping and wear along both bottom edges. There is loss on the outside front hinge especially at top and bottom of spine. The back cover has wear and loss along the top of the cover and the bottom of the cover up to a 1/4" by 1/4" There is a crease along the back of the cover. The jacket is in very good condition with colors on the cover, just with chipping and loss a hint of wear at bottom edges and at top and bottom of spine and a dime size loss of the middle spine with fading of the spine. It looks handsome in its shiny new plastic cover. Literary Guild Magazine for December 1929 included. Shipping box is suitable for wrapping with a non-price listed purchase order inside along with biodegradable packing..
