"The Boston Almanac for the Year 1849" by S.N. Dickinson. The book features a fold out map titled "Map of the Vicinity of Boston", 12 pages of handwritten entries in vintage hand within the "Memoranda" section, and handsome engravings of Boston's Public Schools.

Condition:Fading of cloth color on the front cover and spine; there are a few dark stain spots on the back cover (see photo); bumped corners. Tight binding. No splits. No loose pages. The text pages are in excellent condition - clean and white with no foxing, stains or tears - - there are entries written within the "Memoranda" section in vintage hand which adds to the charm of the book. The map is present and secured, but in poor condition - all panels are intact, but there are obvious tears and wear (see photo).

Boston: B. B. Mussey & Co. and Thomas Groom, 1848. First Edition. Blindstamped Cloth. Very Good. 12mo. 14 by 8.5 cm. [2], 214, [4] pp. With fold-out map in front as well. With printed content -- business advertisements -- on yellow endpapers as well. Blindstamped and gilt vignette picture representing Beacon Hill viewed from the Charles, so it seems to us. Title also blindstamped and gilt stamped on front cover. Spine has blistering. Slight cocking of the binding, front overreaching rear. Some scattered staining of the leaves. Handwritten entries for days of the week giving weather of those days -- this is arguably an enhancement.
