The text is clean with no markings (there is a former owner's name written on the back of the title page). The binding is sound. The cover shows light wear with a couple of small rubbed spots to the leather. Still in original box.

Oxford: University Press,, [c.1890]. An attractively bound miniature prayer book. Miniature, trigesimo-secundo (32mo) (95 x 63 mm). Contemporary brown morocco, smooth spine lettered in gilt, floral device in compartments divided by gilt rules, covers with gilt and blind panels enclosing gilt centrepiece Christogram, gilt brass edges and clasp, yellow endpapers, edges red. Text printed in red and black, within red ruled borders. Head of front joint just starting, p. 27 with offsetting from formerly inlaid flower, else clean. A very good copy indeed.

A very attractive copy of this early Georgian prayer book in a contemporary binding, and with evidence of the handing down of such books within families over many decades. The free endpapers have various signatures from the Richards family of Dorchester, who held Warmwell House from 1687 to 1806, and of the reverend William Floyer, the Vicar of Stinsford, and his daughter Elizabeth. Octavo (202 x 125 mm). Contemporary English black morocco, spine gilt in compartments, gilt border to covers enclosing gilt centrepiece, marbled endpapers, gilt edges. A very attractive Book of Common Prayer and Psalms, in a personalized Georgian binding, the spine lettered for one "Thomas Hales Deptford", the covers resplendent with the Christogram "JHS" within richly gilt red and green onlays; a pleasing example of the expense and care dedicated to the binding of Books of Common Prayer in the period. 2 works in 1 one volume, octavo (210 x 126 mm). Contemporary green sheep, spine lettered in gilt, gilt to compartments, gilt foliate and beaded panels to covers enclosing elaborate gilt centrepieces incorporating red and green sheep onlays, serrated gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, gilt edges. Joints and spine ends expertly and discreetly repaired, contents foxed and occasionally a little closely cropped, small chip not affecting text to first book leaf Ll4; an excellent copy.
