Palmer COX. 8vo; [32pp]; color pictorial wrapper featuring a turkey in a top hat and a good; rear wrapper advertisement for shoe store; ownership ink stamped name on first and last page; 7 b&w wood engraved illustrations in text, and 4 full page illustrations; 2 closed tears to rear wrapper at spine, old tape repair to inside spine fold, ink smudge to first page; very good. Stories include: The Quarrel, about a turkey and goose; Meddlesome Peter about a bear family named Bruin (Dutch for Brown); Poor, Sick Bruin about the bear family; The Squirrel's Visitor about a squirrel named Frisk; The Wolf's First Party; the Crow; Bruin's Visit; and The Stork's Suit.

We photograph every item. 159 pp; corners bumped, front hinge split, binding loose, some foxing; Green cloth boards, decorated and embossed on cover and spine as "J. Cole" by Emma Gillibrand (sic), and the only title appearing in the copyright is Gellibrand's as well, however, "J. Cole" occupies only the first 80 pages of this title - the remaining 79 pages being reprints of "Busy Brownies" and "Bonny Birds" both by E. Veale with the well-known Brownie illustrations of Palmer Cox. No title information or credit appears in the colophon regarding these two additional titles bound-in.

Lacking publication information, but consistent with others in this series published by Hubbard in 1897. Contains 5 short tales about animal characters: The Quarrel -- The Wolf's First Party -- The Dissatisfied Owl -- The Squirrel's Visitor -- Meddlesome Pater. Based on 6 illustrations by Palmer Cox, best known as the creator of the Brownie books. This was intended for use as a promotional booklet. The back wrapper has an illustration of a knight and jester holding a large broadside, with a brownie peeking out from under it.
