About This Item

1903. Fair. Album page with four photos pasted down on one side. Our caption is written on card stock beneath one of the photos; another photo appears to show another group of prisoners. Both approximately 12 x 9.5cm. Significant fading and some staining. Undated but probably 1902 or 1903. The first Boer photo shows 23 men of varying ages, many of them holding small classroom-type slates; the second photo that we think is also of Boer prisoners shows 9 men standing in front of a small shed. The other two photos are of a British soldier and of a building that could be the regimental headquarters of the 1st Lansdowne Regiment in Bedford although that information comes from the caption beneath another, now missing, photo.
