About This Item
Fredericton, New Brunswick.: Brunswick Press, 1964. In "Bluenose Skipper", Mr. Gillespie, a trained newspaper man, has had the assissantce of Captain Angus in preparing this biography. This is the story of Angus Walters, son of Captain Elias Walters, and the ships he sailed in before becoming master of "Bluenose", the ship which was to become famous as the five-time winner of the International Races, and now struck and immortalized on the Canadian ten-cent coin. Stories of "Bluenose" are legend and there are few Canadians or Americans who do not remember the long feud between Capt. Angus Walters of Bluenose and the famed American schooners "Columbia" and the "Gertrude L. Thebaud" out of Gloucester with the wily Ben Pine at the helm. Captain Angus reviews the past with more than a hint of nostalgia in his voice. A clean bright copy.. Second Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Biography + Captain Angus Walters + Maritimes + Bluenose + Schooners. Catalogs: Maritime Provinces.
