This edition published 2 years after the 1st. Muir 7824. Textured blue papered boards with brown lettering. 8vo, 72pp, color frontispiece & 14 full page b&w plates, with many illustrations in the text, which is printed in sepia. Spine a little sunned with some splits nicely repaired. Sml. gift inscription on ffep, sml. glue mark on rear end paper.

The book itself is in unusually nice condition but there are a number of instances of (quite competent) added pencil colouring and a marginal repair to one leaf.. The scarce first edition.

Publisher's original light blue mottled paper covered boards with illustration and titles in brown to the upper board and spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, 13 plates in brown and white (on gloss paper) and line drawings throughout the text by Dorothy Wall. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with some rubbing and bumping to the spine tips and corners, the boards bright and fresh. The contents, with a small bookseller's stamp to the bottom of the front endpaper, and some spotting to the closed text block edge, are otherwise clean and bright throughout. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has tiny closed tears and chips at the spine tips and fold corners (secured with tape to the underside).
