Interior clean other than the occasional spot, a few earmarks, couple pages with some light creasing. 228 pages. Author's 2nd mystery. ; 8vo; "A mysterious intruder at the home of a young wealthy trucking magnate is shot dead by a Detroit police officer. The intruder turns out to be a mob hitman. Then two thugs come into a local watering hole and shoot up both the jukebox and the cigarette machine, purportedly owned by the same young trucking tycoon. Detective Sergeant Mulheisen investigates, quickly finding himself caught in the middle of a gun-running scheme.... " .

The second and hardest-to-find book in Jackson's highly-praised mystery-crime series featuring Detroit Detective Sgt. Fang Mulheisen, this time dealing with the murders of five railroad trainmen in a spectacular freight train crash and a hijacked boxcar loaded with automatic rifles as well as several distractions such as a dozen Cuban revolutionaries, a greedy mob boss and a luscious Polish housewife. Previous owner's signature at top of front end page, o/w text and boards are clean and unmarked, tight and square. An inch and half-inch tear and crease at the bottom edge of the dustjacket's back panel with minor wear at the corners, edges and spine ends. Looks quite decent in a Brodart DJ protector.

Mulheisen -- Sergeant Fang to his friends and enemies; lightly foxed on text edges o/w text and boards are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered; dustjacket shows some damp staining, though it is flat and unwrinkled and neither printing nor illustration show significant damage. Also light foxing on dustjacket's verso. All that noted, DJ is whole, unmarked, no chips or tears or creasing, not price-clipped.
