New York: Random House [1949], 1949. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo. [14], 3-208, [4] pp. Black cloth with gold and red decorations on the front board and spine; red topstain. Price code of 200/200 on front flap of dust jacket. Illustrated with a frontispiece and several full-page drawings by Milton Menasco. A Very Good book with two tiny gouges to the top edges of the boards; jacket is Very Good with a small split to the front fold and a few spots of edge wear. Presents beautifully.

Synopsis

Alec Ramsay gets the chance to discover which of his two stallions, the Black or his son, Satan, is faster when the two horses must race for their lives from a raging forest fire.
