First edition, first impression, limited issue, number 0 of 5 Binder's copies, of an edition of 310 copies numbered and signed by the author, with the 10 copies numbered with the Roman numerals i-x being reserved for Hughes. Birthday Letters was Hughes's controversial collection of poems about his relationship with his deceased first wife, the poet Sylvia Plath. It was also his final work, first published only months before his death in October 1998.
