Dedication – Harold Wesley Hall, list of plates, preface to this revised edition, introduction by author, notes on the text and index. Dark peach coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated with numerous black and white drawings and 24 coloured plates – all drawn by Peter Slater, along with maps showing the distribution of the various bird families. Brown coloured boards with white coloured titles and illustration to the backstrip. Photographic dustwrapper with yellow, black and blue coloured titles to the front panel and white and yellow coloured titles to the backstrip. A book to provide identification of Australian birds, the facts known about them and where they are distributed, for, as the front fold over panel blurb states "... Australian birds are continuing source of interest to many people and there is a constant awareness of the need to the conservation. Protective measures are only effective when based on correct identification." Softening and rubbing to the backstrip edges with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Age toning of the textblock edges with a few handling marks to the text. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges. Creasing and a few small tears to the dustwrapper edges. Faint fading to the backstrip and some soiling of the rear dustwrapper panel. There is a 3 inch tear to the top right-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel, with associated creasing.
