New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1930. Hardcover. Illustrations by Bert Salg. Small 8vo. Burgundy cloth with black spine lettering and black-bordered yellow front board lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 188pp, (10pp ads). Frontispiece, 3 full-page glossy plates. Near fine/very good. Jacket a tad edgeworn and lightly age toned, with a few small archivally closed (on verso) edge tears. A tight, attractive copy of what's apparently the 20th and final title in the oddball "Buddy Books for Boys" series, described by Harry K. Hudson as "a catch-all series of titles previously published. Sports, mystery, flying, adventure and Boy Scouts are represented. The sequence is rather arbitrary..." -- as evidenced here by the ad at rear (13 titles), rear jacket panel list (20 titles, different order) and jacket verso (11 titles, different order). Likely a first of this edition, though inconsistencies abound in this series. Quite handsome and with fine jacket graphics -- and scarce in dust jacket in any case. HUDSON 68.
