Paris: Chez F.G. Levrault, 1835. Very good condition. Lovely color stipple engraving of a Bigarreau cherry branch and fruit from the 'Traite des Arbres Fruitiers' commonly considered to be the finest work on fruit ever printed.
Pierre-Antoine Poiteau (1766 - 1854) was a French botanist, gardener and botanical artist. In 1835, with Pierre Jean François Turpin, Poiteau published a new edition of the Traite des arbres fruitiers (Treatise of the fruit trees) by Henri Louis Duhamel du Monceau.
