Small 8vo, approximately 180 x 100 mm, 7 x 4 inches, portrait frontispiece to each volume of Linnaeus and Pennant, hand-coloured vignette on each engraved title page, and 64 hand-coloured plates with tissue guards engraved by W. H. Lizars, who was a painter and engraver as well as publisher, plus memoirs of Linnaeus and Welsh zoologist Thomas Pennant, original wrapper in front of first volume. Pages: Volume 1: [16], 147, plus 40 pages of adverts; Volume 2: [4], iv, [3], 1-166 including index, plus 46 pages of adverts, both title pages are duplicated in Volume 2, pagination of prelims in Volume I slightly erratic but collated and guaranteed complete, rebound in quarter green morocco over marbled sides, gilt title and decoratiolns to spines, new endpapers. Dallas at rear. 8vo, 195 x 125 mm, 7½ x 4½ inches, folding chart, pages: xxi, 1-432 including index, original publisher's green cloth, gilt lettering and decoration to spine, blind-stamped decorative borders to covers, original patterned endpapers, edges untrimmed as issued, no inscriptions. Binding slightly rubbed with a few tiny white marks, inner paper hinge partially cracked, pale browning to endpapers, minor fox spots to folding plate, slight shelf wear to lower edges, otherwise contents clean and bright, binding tight and firm.
