Presumed first edition with "Printed in the United States of America; no code on the dj; but with "47H" on page 151(Rare Books Digest. April 10, 2011). The dust jacket has a closed tear on the front panel, discoloration on the bottom front and rear (inside) flap corners and back cove as well as being modestly edge worn. Clear removable protective cover added. From 1957- 1961published a multi-volume work entitled Best in Children's Books. In all there were 42 volumes published, each issued with a full color dust jacket. Many of the illustrators are of note; in this volume: Richard Scarry, Earl Thollander, Aldren A. Watson, Marguerite de Angeli, Colleen Browning and Peter Spier and more. ; 8vo .
