Spine has minor sunning with heavier chipping and crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Unclipped dust jacket with minor rubbing, chipping and tearing to edges. Moderate tanning and scuffing overall.

Rene Cloke was born in Plymouth, England in 1904. She died on 1 October 1995, aged 91.
During World War II, Rene worked for the War Office as a tracer, producing maps from photographs for the Royal Air Force, but she spent the rest of her life illustrating greetings cards and children's books. Known for her depictions of fairies, sprites, pixies, and elves, a distinctive feature of Rene's style is the inclusion of faces in trees, which you'll see in many of her illustrations. As well as her books, she also produced illustrations for many annuals, including Uncle Oojah's Big Annual, Blackie's Children's Annual, Tiny Tots Annual, Jack and Jill Annual, Playhour Annual and Jack and Jill Harold Hare Book, and contributed to Sunny Stories.
Unpaginated. Gift inscription on endpaper dated 1/08/56, otherwise unmarked, clean and bright throughout. No DJ.
