Santa Cruz, CA: Donna Thomas, 1995. First Edition. Miniature Book. Very Good. Miniature Book. 1 1/4 x 2 5/8 inches. Unpaginated. [20] pp., including the paste-downs. Die-cut pages are each individually illustrated in a variety of colors and over-written by hand with a poem by Joan Logghe celebrating the connections of land, family and life; text clean, unmarked. The brown-leather boards are cut in the shop of a bed, the spine is of red leather, the front cover has leather inlays of brown, red mauve and are gilt-stamped and stamped with blue foil, the end-papers are of hand-made patterned paper and these in turn have bed-illustrations mounted upon them; binding square and tight. Housed in a small hand-made clam-shell box make with thin book board which is overlaid with orange paper, and has a patterned paper spine; one of the panels has come loose, but has been glued back into place with archival paste. SA1019-029. Very Good. UNIQUE. This book is cut out in the shape of a four-poster bed. Each page is individually and colorfully hand-illustrated; the bed is illustrated with various occupants appropriate to the text of Joan Logghe's poem, celebrating family and connections to the land and the things the poet finds sacred. Joan Logghe graduated from Tufts University where she graduated as Class Poet and won an Academy of American Poet's College Poetry Award. She began volunteering at her children's school thirty years ago and has worked with children, youth, and adults ever since. She works at poetry and arts activism in community, off the academic grid in La Puebla, New Mexico. She was Poet Laureate of Santa Fe from 2010 to 2012. REFERENCE: Not in Bradbury.

London: Anthony Treherne, 1905. First Edition (thus). Flexible boards. Very good. Miniature (5cm x 7cm). A very good copy in the publisher's limp brown leather, stamped in blind. Rubbing to extremities and the binding a touch shaken, but a clean copy of this miniature book. All edges gilt, though the gilt is somewhat dulled. Appears to be genuinely rare; we note just three library holdings, all in the USA (Harvard, UVA, and Worcester PL [MA]).

Light crease at the spine of the front cover. ; A humorous tale of a crow or raven who successively, page after page, drinks and drains numerous glasses of spirits until its view of the world blurs, it stands, then falls on its back. Told wordlessly, with drawings only, and the story line is obvious. The stylized head and beak of the bird reoccur in Steinlen's book illustrations of crows and vultures. Swiss-born, creative polymath Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen (1859-1923) was painter, fabric designer, sculptor, periodical publisher, printmaker, and illustrator. Renowned for his turn-of-the-century, Art Nouveau-style, Steinlen produced drawings of Parisian street life, depicting average working-class people, actors, vendors, prostitutes, the upper class out of their element, criminals, and families, all in the urban environment. He was equally known for his many drawings of cats in both natural…
