This copy signed and inscribed on the ffep "for __ __/ With thanks for his kind gift/..../Richard Wilbur/ Cummington/ 27 February 2012". The dust jacket flaps and endpapers with old cello tape, residue from removed bookplate, else very good, in a worn and price-clipped good dust jacket (in removable protective archival jacket).

Prev. owner's name and small (pencil eraser-sized) ink out on the ffep, a small inventory number under the flap, edges sunned, still very good, in a dust jacket the verso reinforced in three spots by white postage stamp ends else a bit worn and creased and easily good or better and complete (not price-clipped). Better than most copies we have seen. (in removable protective archival jacket).

Peter Vierling was himself a poet who won the 1955 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, thus rendering this an important association copy as well as a rare signed first edition of Wilbur's first book. Book and dust jacket in solid overall condition, unmarked otherwise; jacket is unclipped and in protective mylar.
