Although the goal of this report was to urge the state conventions of South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida "that no final separate State action shall be taken upon the question of secession from the Union, until a general Convention of the Southern States can be had," it was not received before South Carolina's withdrawal; therefore, this pamphlet became South Carolina's attempt "briefly to state the causes which induced the passage of the Ordinance" to Georgians. This she does, passionately, and, yes, briefly. A very scarce Confederate imprint. PARRISH 3815.

Special Limited First Edition, #3 of 25 copies. Full maroon leather with leather lining inside front and back of book. With gilt lettering on spin and gilt illustration on the front. Various regiments of Ross' Brigade were engaged early in the war in the Indian Territory. The participated in battle of Pea Ridge, crossed the Mississippi to fight at Iuka and Corinth, then fought in the Atlantic Campaign, and the Tennessee Campaign. Lt. Alexander Stewart was a soldier in the Union Army who served in the Army of the Potomac during the American Civil War. His contribution to Civil War literature was his book 'Camp, March and Battlefield', a book that described various war campaigns including those of General Burnside, General Hooker, General Meade, and Ulysses S Grant.
According to Nevins,
"A composite of individual studies that originally appeared in a Pittsburgh newspaper; the author was chaplain of the 13th Pennsylvania and served in Virginia."

1862 1st ed Officers of Union Army Navy Generals American CIVIL WAR Battles

During the American Civil War, the public became quickly fascinated with the prominent figures in the Union and Confederate armies. So much so that authors quickly began publishing works describing the events and major figures of the war. Dean Dudley's 1862 'Officers of our Union Army' was one such work – a book that provided biographical sketches on Union generals such as Ambrose Burnside, Robert Anderson, George McClellan, and Nathaniel Banks.

1884 1ed Confederate War Papers General Gustv Smith Battle Seven Pines Civil War

Gustavus Woodward Smith was a Confederate general during the American Civil War, best remembered for his role in the Battle of Seven Pines. When General Joseph Johnson was injured, Smith took over the commanding role until his health deteriorated and Robert E. Lee ultimately took over.
Following the war, Smith published a memoir of his experience in the war. 'Confederate War Papers' covers topics including Jefferson Davis's presidential election, battle tactics and maneuvers, Confederate defenses and forts, and much emphasis on the Battle of Seven Pines. However, according to Nevins,
"Smith was a failure as a general; this work is largely his rationalization for shortcomings at Seven Pines."

1887 Civil War 1st ed George McClellan Own Story Union General Slavery Lincoln

A rare first edition of George B. McClellan's "Own Story" which wasn't published until 1887, after his death. McClellan used this work as a platform to defend his conduct, actions, and decisions during the Mexican-American War and Civil War. This book includes letters to his wife, in which McClellan reveals his pride as a general as well as his feelings toward war.
Some of the most important inclusions in this work are McClellan's views on the causes and reasons for the Civil War, noting slavery and the Lincoln-Douglas debates as primary causes, but he blamed the South as the culprit for causing the uprising, rather than putting any blame on the North.
