New York: Virtue and Company. Good. 1859-61. Hardcover. Covers have light corner and edge wear and are slightly rubbed. Pages and plates have varying amounts of browning. A few plates have more foxing than the others. Each front free endpaper has a private owner's written name, town, and 20th century date. Volume 1: very heavy wear to the rear lower outer corner, heavy wear to the lower spine end. Volume 2: has a very small scrape to the front cover. Volume 3: has heavy wear to the outer corners and to the top spine end. ; In three volumes. .

NY: Virtue and Company; (1861). First Edition . Hardcover. Three volumes, all at least very good in half leather bindings. Leather spine and corners over black cloth covered boards. All three volumes have a leather label with gilt decoration on the front board with the name "David H. Sanford." The edges of the boards are a little rubbed, but hinges are tight and the books are square and tight, with the exception of volume two, which has a slight separation near the front hinge. Many steel engravings on glossy paper, with tissue guards, throughout all three volumes. Two illustrations are not present, one at page 333 in volume 1, and one at page 138 in volume 2. Very little foxing or soiling - a nice pre-Civil War military history of the US.

A number of scuffs on cover edges, but overall, a nice set, solid, firm and clean, with many excellent plates..
