Original green cloth boards, black lettering to spine and front board. Pictorial endpapers. 132 p.p. B&W illustrations in-text. Minor bruising to spine ends. Dust jacket is price clipped. Some bumping to extremities, chipping to spine ends, sunning to spine. In 1868, D'Arcy McGee, the prophet of Confederation, was murdered on his doorstep after he had returned from a late session of Parliament. At 42, he was teh Father of Confederation and a dramatic figure in the government. In her clear and engaging biography, Josephine Phelan traces the young Irish immigrant's rise as an orator, journalist and politician.
