Burnie, Tas.; Sydney, NSW : The Potato Marketing Board of Tasmania, [1942 or 1943]. Octavo, original pictorial wrappers with design by Walter Dowman, staple bound, 48 pp, b/w illustrations, advertisements; a very good copy. Hoyle, 1059. Recipes for potato-based dishes, inspired by Tasmanian Brownell and Bismarck varieties. ""With the object of stimulating the use of potatoes by the general public the Potato Marketing Board of Tasmania has published a booklet entitled 'Chef Brownell's recipe book'. The book covers a wide field, from the simple boiled potato to potato wine, and it also advises how potatoes may be used for both slimming and increasing weight. Its health-giving qualities are also emphasised. The booklet includes recipes for the use of swedes, carrots, and parsnips"" (The Sydney Morning Herald, 11 January 1943).
