Two of Bach's greatest sacred works, here issued in Russia at the end of the Soviet era, during the cultural thaw, in a rare edition produced by the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Russia. CONTENTS: The 'a cappella' Motet, BWV 227 is here performed by the Choir of King's College, Cambridge, conducted by David Wilcox. The Magnificat, BWV 243 features the Munich Bach Choir and Orchestra, conducted by Karl Richter, in a rare "live" performance from the 1970 Salzburg Festival - with soloists Edda Moser (soprano), Hertha Topper (mezzo), Eric Tappy (tenor), and Siegmund Nimsgern (bass). The Liner Notes are in Russian only. CONDITION: An excellent Very Good Plus LP record [not a CD!] in a Near Fine jacket (with light edge- and corner-wear).
