Racine, WI: Whitman. VG book, no DJ. Spine ends bumped but not torn or chipped.. (1930). 1st edition. Hardcover. VG book, no DJ (as issued). FINE inside BUT: name & address of owner neatly entered 5 times inside both covers. 7.5"x5",108pp. . Unusual in this exceptional condition. Minor cover flaws. (1) Upper board with 3/16" closed tear in front edge. (2) Spine cocked a bit, likely when bound. (3) Owner's name neatly inked on spine & rear board. (4) Spine & upper board very lightly sunned or rubbed. Still, a very nice book. FINE inside. Frontis a double page photo montage of 10 baseball greats and 15 pages with other baseball photos, a few of which are full page. Tight binding. No loose pages or weak hinges. No aging, foxing, soiling, marginalia, etc. Normally this quantity of names would be seen as a flaw. These names may prove the exception to that rule. They are all neatly written and could be seen as evidence of a boy's idolization of "the babe". This person, of that address, is listed as being 24 in the 1940 census, making him 14 when the book was published. .
