Chicago; (1907): Row, Peterson and Co. First Edition. Octavo. Frontispiece, 183(1)pp., illustrated by Marian Deborah Seiders. The word "Igorot" means Mountain people. They lived in the pine forested mountains of Northern Luzon, the largest island in the Philippine Archipelago. There were 8 to ten groups of tribes, each occupying several miles of territory. Each tribe had their own separate dialect. Most of them were fierce hunters of human heads. They were trustworthy to their friends, but cruel and savage to their enemies. This is the history of a boy who lived in one of these mountain villages names Bontoc. A child is born in one or another of the culture stages called savagery, barbarism, civilization and enlightenment. A very good copy bound in light brown pictorial cloth lettered and decorated in black and red, spine lettering black., some light finger soiling to covers, front free endpaper lacking.
