Foster Lardner writes to his daughter Sylvia Foster Lardner Page [1913-1997]: "With love from Mother & Daddy -- We are very proud of you Dear".
An actor and amateur magician, Foster Lardner [1873-1934] was taught magic by Al Baker. For twenty years he was the head of the Keith organization in and around Providence, Rhode Island. He was also a member of the National Conjurers' Association Ring No. 2 in Rhode Island. He was manager of the Albee Theatre in Providence and stage manager for the SAM Carnival of Magic [1931] which featured Cardini, Jarrow and Hardeen. During World War I he gave frequent magical entertainments for soldiers in hospitals and later gave shows in the children's hospital in Providence.
