Doubleday, Sydney, 1980. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Good. 302 pp., table contents, foreword by Dick Lewers, introduction, index and authors biography. The text is illustrated with color that photography line drawings and maps. Illustrated endpapers with map of Australia, and in blue, the area in discussion. Black boards with silver writing on the spine. Photographic dustwrapper, showing a brim [type of fish]; black background with blue and white writing on front panel and white writing on the spine, on the back panel is a map of Australia with area for discussion in a box. This is the first guide to fish of the Southern Ocean, from the surface to a 1000 metres below where fish occur. One third of Australia's fish are within this book described, "most fish are shown in their natural habitats; given the present state of knowledge, identification is as accurate as possible.". The boards are slightly rubbed and on the bottom edge small triangular pieces are missing. At the bottom spine gutter there is a small 0.5" split. The head and the heel of the spine are soft and bumped. Gift inscription verso of ffep. There is in minor chipping in of the dustwrapper to all edges. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
