First published in this edition in 1906, this is the fifth printing. Translated by David Lewis with corrections and a prefatory essay of 21 pages on the "Development of Mysticism in the Carmelite Order" by Benedict Zimmerman OCD. Two indices at the back, "Index of Places in Holy Scripture" and a general index of the work itself. Previous owner's name and dated note on the front free end paper and poem (The Abyss of God) by the same person on the blank verso of the back free end paper. (Quite moving along with a later note about her brother's death.) Otherwise very clean with a sound and solid binding while the externals show only very mild wear and that mostly to the spine tips. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. .
