A compilation of household and grocer's recipes for making and preserving all manner of foods, formulas for manufacturer various druggist's remedies, formulas for all kinds of farm and livestock needs, and instructions and recipes for making supplies for a wide variety of trades, including furriers, tanners, bookbinders, anglers, painters, cabinet-makers, watchmakers, gold beaters, locomotive builders, blacksmiths, machinists, fire-arm manufacturers, etc. Very interesting look at the self-sufficient 19th century. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .

The only marking are 4 penciled page numbers on rear pasted endpaper. 4 pages (146k to146n) have broken loose from the binding but are laid into their proper place and are in fine condition, not creased or dog-eared,.Brown cloth hardcover has decorative gilt titling on spine and front; front gilt bright, spine a bit faded. Cover is clean with moderate wear:: edges rubbed with boards showing at corners, tearing to cloth at front spine fold and small chip from top of spine. Binding and hinges firm, intact and straight.
