About This Item

New York [?], 1897. 1 vols. Image 20 x 16-1/2 inches; matted. 1 vols. Image 20 x 16-1/2 inches; matted. An Original "Puck" Drawing by Ehrhart, 1897. Stamped on the back "Property of Puck, N.Y." and with the pencilled legend "Sept 7/97 2:30 PM", and in the bottom front margin, "4 3/4 Rush", all of which suggest that this is an illustration for an article, or possibly the original of a cartoon, for the popular turn-of-the-century New York publication, Puck. We have not been able to trace the artist, but he was a more than competent draftsman, working in a dashing pen and ink style of Charles Dana Gibson or George Du Maurier.
