A complete set of the first series of the annual, ed. by Wilhelm Wanscher, each of the 8 volumes containing 200 to 300 pp. of annotated articles (in English, French or German) on Danish art and architecture, ancient, Italian, and Oriental art that relates to Danish collections, and some general topics such as geometric art, documents interspersed throughout, (36) pp. bibliography of Danish writings on art and architecture in first volume, numerous illus. in the text and on foldout plates (a few in color). 4to. 1/2 calf. Very minor worm damage along spine of first volume. Copenhagen (Haase) 1932-1940. Arntzen Q 84. The articles, by Wanscher, Christian Elling, J. Prip-Moller, et al., include most informative material on the architects Bindesboll, Oettinger and Hansen, the Palaces of Friederichsberg and Kronborg, and Danish architecture in general since the Romanesque era as well as full documentation on Nicolas Abildgaard, Eijdtveldt, and the versatile Skovgaard who renewed fresco and mosaic art. The articles on Italian art include Wanscher's studies on Michelangelo and Giotto.
