About This Item

A Four Square Book, London, 1966. First British Paperback Edition. Softcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. 190 g.; VI, 285 pages, three pages are following advertisements for other publications, acknowledgements. Photographic front cover, showing a wounded man being helped by another holding a rifle, with black titles to the front panel and black and white to the back strip. Bumping rubbing and creasing to the book corners and to the top and bottom of the back strip. The results of a rough removal of a sticker can be seen to the top right-hand corner of the front panel. The covers themselves have become rubbed and slightly faded. Browning of the text block edges and browning of the internal pages, commensurate with age and paper used with the production of the book. " The Spanish Civil War turned into an armed rehearsal for World War II when thousands were stirred to come from all over the world to take part. The struggle inflamed a whole generation: to some it was a chance to oppose the menace of Nazism and Fascism, to some it was a crusade against atheistic Communism, but to many it was a chance for adventure and escape from a world deadened by years of depression.." -- from the back panel blurb. This is a novel of that time by the author, a volunteer himself, of what it was to live, fight and die in those perilous times. Size: 12mo (standard paperback). Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 500 grams. Category: Fiction; Spain; Inventory No: 0105628. .
