A history of the Arkham House publishing house from 1939-1959. Includes a bibliography and addenda. Arkham House publishing house was founded in Sauk City, Wisconsin by August Derleth and Donald Wandrei to publish hardcover collections of H. P. Lovecraft's best works, which had previously been published only in pulp magazines. They specialise in "weird fiction" and interesting books. In the original striped paper binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and slight discolouration to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Very Good

Digest-sized (17.5cm x 11cm) 54-page booklet: 815 copies printed of which 80 copies were bound between boards to make a very limited hardcover edition. This is one of the hardcover copies (with custom-made traycase). Both boards show some soiling/staining, more so the rear board where the last two pages are also affected: a VG+ copy as issued without dustjacket in a fine custom-made traycase with gilt lettering on the spine.
