(1st) Slightly smaller, heavy book, darker blue cloth spine, blue boards with beautiful elegant embossed illustration of sand dune in white with bright gilt edges, gilt and white lettering on spine bright too, 326 pages, fold-out map inside back cover, photos throughout of author's exploration of 2000 miles into the Sahara. DJ beneath mylar with photograph of blue sky and sharp edge of sand dune dwarfing man nearby on front, small illustration of statue at spine bottom, b/w photograph of Thesiger with camel on back reminiscent of T.E. Lawrence. DJ has tiny tear with slight wear at top front tip, two tiny tears and two micronicks with creases at top front edge, fairly large chip at bottom front right with creases, tiny but wide tear at bottom front tip, microtears and very tiny tear at spine top edge, micronick and 1/4" tear at spine top left and right edge, micronicks along top and bottom back edges, 3/8" thin tear and microtear at bottom back edge. Fair DJ/Very Fine book.
