Interior clean; corners and spinal extremities lightly worn. The leaflet is fine. A collection of twelve reproductions of Hesse's watercolors with an introduction by him. The leaflet is a presentation of one small reproduction of a watercolor by Hesse, with text following. Text in German, in both leaflet and book.. Duodecimo + small leaflet. Book: 13.5 x 18.5 cm. 10 pp. + 12 color plates. Leaflet: 10.5 x 15 cm. 6 pp. With one small tipped-in color plate. Book inscribed by Hesse to Wayne Andrews, noted historian, architectural photographer, and author of "Siegfried`s Curse: The German Journey from Nietzsche to Hesse." Andrews wrote the first book published by New Directions, under the psuedonym Montague O'Reilly. Leaflet also signed by Hesse. A nice pair together.
