About this book: Translated from the German by Edward Pfeiffer. The Anti-Calvinist movement began by the Church of England and the Lutheran's as a repudiation of the teachings by Calvin which spread throughout Europe and the America's in the late 16th and 17th century's. The Calvinistic viewpoints directly relate to the Baptist's belief that everything is preordained and that all sin is forgiven through Christ's blood and sacrifice. The different movements almost caused a war between the Countries at the time. Each chapter is divided into the following segments: The Question Stated; The Doctrine Proved; The Objections Refuted; and Comfort of the Doctrine. The Chapters are as follows: I. Whether the Reformed Concede Too Much to Reason in Matters of Faith, II. Whether God really Impels and Directs the Will of Man to Sin, III. Whether, in Virtue of the Personal Union of the two Natures, Divine Majesty and Glory are Communicated to Christ's Human Nature; IV. Whether Christ, according to His Humanity, in Virtue of the Personal Union and Divine Majesty Communicated to it, is Present on Earth with His Creatures, but especially with His Church; V. Whether God Wills seriously and earnestly that All Men Should be Saved; VI. Whether Christ's Merit Extends to All Men; VII. Of Universal Call of Grace; VIII. Of the External Election - Whether It Took Place by the Mere Will of God, or in View of Faith; IX. Of Eternal Reprobation - Whether if Took Place by the Mere Will and Absolute Decree of God; X. Of the Grace of Conversion - Whether it is irresistibly Given to men; XI. Whether Believers can through Sins against Conscience Lose Faith and the Grace of God; XII. Of Baptism - Whether it is a Necessary and Effectual Means of Regenerations; XIII. Of the Substantial Presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Holy Supper; XIV. Of Eclesiastical Ceremonies - The Adiaphora; XV. Whether the Reformed Doctrine Subverts the Foundation of Faith.

Herodian's 'History of Rome' is a collection of eight books covering the period of the death of Marcus Aurelius to the beginning of Gordian III's reign. Herodian's account is first-person narrative of one of the most politically unsettled times of the Roman Empire. Important names covered in Herodian's 'History' include Commodus, Julianus, Severus, and Pertinax, as well as the history of Zosimus.
This 1549 Greek is incredibly rare and desirable. It features both the Latin and Greek translations by Poliziano. According to the USTC, there are only three examples in any institutional holding in American institutions! Very rare!

"The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can and keep moving on."
– Ulysses S. Grant
An important historical memoir of the Civil War, arguably the most important, and the best thing that Grant ever wrote. General Norman Schwartzkopf has recently called this the finest memoir of war experiences that has ever been penned. As such, it is valuable in its scope, its plain and clear analysis and language, and its broad conclusions about the conduct of the war.
