New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1946. This is a Fine copy of the Book Club Edition of an underdog story turned historic! This story was originally shunned from publishers as one that no one would buy! .one being Dial whose rejection included.." it was impossible to sell animal stories in the U.S.A.". Also included with this volume is the actual insert of the article written by the critic Christopher Morley from the" Book- of - the- Month Club News". (who had been on the BMOC-board since its organization in 1926) called the book "one of the great political satires". And most U.S. reviewers agreed with him.The BMOC's President at the time however, did not .and actually rallied to have subscribers skip this months publication. Not only was it a resounding success, it was selected a second time for Book of the month club.
Gilt lettering on the spine on a lovely deep green cloth binding. The dustjacket shows typical wear at the edges, with some creasing and some light chipping. In an archival plastic protector.. Book Club (BCE/BOMC). Hard Cover. Fine/Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
