INSCRIBED BY LYTLE on half-title page, "To Walter,/ out of the long/ [time?], in affection/ and Continued [inderlined]/ admiration - /Andrew Lytle/ Sewanee, Winter/ 1982"; and INSCRIBED BY WRIGHT on title page; "For Walter and Jane,/ with admiration and/ friendship -/ Stuart." AND SIGNED BY BRYANT at head of first page of his foreword (p. ix). Walter Sullivan (1924-2006) studied under Lytle at the Iowa Writer's Workshop before becoming an author, critic, longtime Vanderbilt University professor, authority on Southern literature, and -- along with Lytle -- one of the founding members of The Fellowship of Southern Writers. His wife, Jane Harrison Sullivan (1923-2022), taught English literature at Aquinas College. 8vo gilt-stamped blue rough-cloth boards; 131 pages plus 8 pages of grayscale dust jacket images.
