Hardcover. xii, [2], 78 p. interspersed with black and white photo plates; green cloth boards with gilt title on spine; very good with minor shelfwear; 1949 ownership signature of Lieutenant Colonel S.W. Bogan on half-title page, front endpaper has smaller signature of David B. Burnham. Swallow, the Ningbo-born son of missionary parents, was a teacher and businessman with a wide-ranging career, at one time tutoring the sons of President Yuan Shih-kai.
