Sibley was the first governor of the state of Minnesota, an ex-member of U.S. Congress, member of the American geographical society; first delegate from the Territory,. Brevet Major General U.S.V., commander of the Loyal Legion of Minnesota; president of board of regents of the state university, of the state historical society, of the state normal school board, etc. He was appointed Justice of the Peace for both Mackinae, Michigan and Clayton, Ohio, foreman of the first grand jury impaneled west of the Mississippi, a commissioned colonel commanding the Indian expedition, he was commissioned to negotiate treaties with the Indians, also doctor of laws by the trustees of Princeton College, appropriations of Congress to the Territory of Minnesota. Bound in olive green cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, floral endpapers, light wear to corners. A very good copy.
