American Highways was the official publication of the American Association of State Highway Officials (AASHO,) a standards setting body which publishes specifications, test protocols and guidelines which are used in highway design and construction throughout the United States. Burch of North Carolina on "Cooperative Urban Highway-Street Planning;" Connecticut's new training program and its excellent 1961 safety record; the opening of the Pan American Highway; highway research is the key to the future; New Hampshire erects six historical markers; and much more regional news from Texas, Missouri, Iowa, etc.; preview of the upcoming annual meeting in Florida of the Association; and much more.
